Hi everyone! As promised, I am following up with the Tunisian crochet bind off tutorial, the continuation of the previous Tunisian crochet basic stitch tutorial. I will be showing both methods for binding off with the Tunisian crochet basic/simple stitch: the slip stitch technique and the single crochet technique. Note that you can also apply the method methods shown here to just about any other Tunisian crochet stitch; in most cases you would modify the bind off to suit the other stitch patterns you are working with. For the previous Tunisian crochet basic/simple stitch tutorial, click here. The MethodFrom the previous tutorial, I left off with this little swatch. I added a few more rows so you could better see the bind off edge without the fabric curling inward as much (Tunisian crochet is notorious for curling in on itself, which you might be able to see along the bottom edge of the images). First, I am going to show the simplest version of the Tunisian crochet bind off, which is the slip stitch method. Work through the second vertical bar from the hook as you would for the Tunisian basic/simple stitch. Bring the hook under the second vertical bar. Yarn over, then pull a loop through the bar. You will have two loops on the hook, as shown below. Bring the second (topmost) loop through the bottom loop, as shown below. You are making a slip stitch here. Repeat the slip stitch method across the entire row until stitches have been bond off. Next is the single crochet version. Work through the second vertical bar from the hook as you would for the Tunisian basic/simple stitch. Bring the hook under the second vertical bar. Yarn over, then pull a loop through the bar. You will have two loops on the hook, as shown below. This time, yarn over a second time. There should now be three loops on the hook, as shown below (think single crochet). Bring the yarn over through the bottom two loops, as you would for single crochet. Repeat this process across the remainder of the row until all stitches have been bond off. You can see the single crochet stitches along the top. They are slightly at an angle from where they pull through the vertical bars. This bind off method has more height than the proceeding slip stitch bind off, and is also more elastic. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Until next time, happy crochet.
