Today's free amigurumi pattern is a round chick (or duckling, depending on what you would prefer)! Either way, this little bird is very easy to make, and very cute, too. If you needed something sunny to brighten your day, perhaps this will suffice; after all, it is yellow and orange, also round.

Begin with Color A. Rnd 1: Create a magic circle. 7 sc in Mc. (7 sts). Rnd 2: Inc in all sts. (14 sts). Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) x 7. (21 sts) Rnd 4: (2 sc, 1 inc) x 7. (28 sts). Rnd 5: (3 sc, 1 inc) x 7. (35 sts) Rnds 6: (4 sc, inc) x 7. (42 sts). Rnds 7-16: Sc in all sts. Place the eyes between rnds 11 and 12. The space between the eyes is about 6 sts. Rnd 17: (4 sc, 1 dcr) x 7. (35 sts). Rnd 18: (3 sc, 1 dcr) x 7. (28 sts). Begin to add stuffing to the head/body. Fill as desired. Rnd 19: (2 sc, 1 dcr) x 7. (21 sts). Rnd 20: (1 sc, 1 dcr) x 7. (14 sts). Rnd 21: Dcr around. (7 sts). Fasten off. Secure bottom opening. Beak Begin with Color B. Rnd 1: Create a magic circle. 4 sc in MC. (4 sts). Rnd 2: Inc in all sts. (8 sts). Rnds 3-4: Sc in all sts. Fasten off. Wings (make 2) Begin with Color A. Row 1: Ch 5. 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook; 1 sc in next 3 ch spaces. Turn. (4 sc). Rows 2-4: Ch 1 (does not count as 1st st), sc across. Turn. Rnd 5: Dcr across top of wing, leaving 2 sts. Do not turn. 2 sc in last dcr st, 4 sc down side of wing, 4 sc along bottom of wing, 4 sc across opposite side of wing, 2 sc in same space as 1st dcr, sl st in first dcr to join the final round. (18 sts). There will be 2 sts at the top of wing, 6 on the left and right sides, and 4 on the bottom of the wing. Fasten off. Feet (make 2) Begin with Color B. Rnd 1: Create a magic circle. 3 sc in Mc. (3 sts). Rnd 2: Inc in all sts. (6 sts). Fasten off. Finishing Use the tapestry needle to evenly attach the wings, beak, and feet to the head/body. Weave in any remaining yarn ends.
